Mechanical Engineer
Department/Division: Maritime (Edinburgh)

Education Level
BEng (Hons)* or MEng in Mechanical Engineering
Or
HND’s and proven experience for mature/experienced engineers 2.1 Qualification

Professional/Technical Qualifications:
Capable of achieving Chartered Status within 6-12 months with one of the following institutes:
 The Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
 The American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
 The Institute of Designers (IeD)

CIBSE/building services engineers are not suitable for this role.
Already Chartered Engineer with:
 The Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
 The American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
 The Institute of Designers (IeD)

Experience:
3 Years minimum in one or more of the following areas:
 Petrochemical
 Ports or Maritime
 Facilities Management Orgs
 Design / Consultancy
 Chemical or Nuclear

Knowledge/ practical experience of:
 Pumps, pipework and vessels
 EU legislation relating to Machinery and the EU Harmonised Standards
5-7 years minimum and specifically in the following:
 Maritime and Ports
 Defence

Knowledge/practical experience of:
 Site services
 Tender assessment
 Managing site works/resources
 Managing equipment or service supply contracts
 Regulatory frameworks/legislation in the UK - specifically SEPA and the EA

Personal Skills/Qualities:
 Good project management skills
 Broad mechanical knowledge
 Good interpersonal skills
 Managing client relations
 Flexible
 Dynamic
 Proven track record in managing wide range mechanical services and projects (design/construct etc.)
 Proven track record in managing clients and winning new work

Special Requirements:
Must have driving licence and willing/able to travel, both within UK and overseas if required - AutoCAD trained
