Vacancy description:
We are recruiting for an independent multi-disciplinary consultancy with some 13,000 staff world-wide, of which about 1200 are based in the Middle East. Although they have almost 100 design professionals located in the UK, USA, India and the Middle East, the latter is only recently established and is a priority for growth. Because of this, and due to a recent major project win, they now have an urgent requirement for a Public Realm Design Co-ordinator to undertake a challenging full-time site-based role on one of Abu Dhabi’s largest and most prestigious urban development projects.
Job profile:
The successful candidate will be a key member of the lead consultant’s infrastructure design team and will support and assist the Public Realm Design Manager in the day-to-day management of the public realm design. Although this role is mainly focussed on the landscape architectural package, the Public Realm Design Manager and Co-ordinator, together with their equivalents from other disciplines, will assist the Interface Manager to co-ordinate and integrate major water features, lighting, landscape structures, traffic and access, roads, bridges, utilities and adjacent private developments. The Public Realm Design Co-ordinator will work closely with other disciplines making up the broader project team to identify, assess, resolve and manage particular public realm design issues in order that clear instruction can be provide to the design and documentation team.
Candidate specification:
We would expect candidates to have: a minimum of 5-years experience of designing, documenting and/or co-ordinating public realm and landscape projects; a landscape architecture or related qualification and be fluent in spoken and written English, particularly where reports and correspondence are concerned.
Patience and resilience for living in a foreign country and sound people skills for dealing with other professionals from different cultural backgrounds is a key requirement, as is having a good eye for detail.
Candidates must be able to show, by reference to past experience, that they have the ability to identify, assess and manage design issues.
