The Company:

Our client is a leading provider of professional services to the energy, resource and complex process industries. Employing over 20,000 people worldwide, they have been recently awarded a significant contract to develop, coordinate and manage procedures to ensure the efficient cost control for the EMAL Aluminium Smelter Project in the UAE, including the recording, controlling, forecasting and reporting of all financial matters.

The project is a joint venture agreement that entails the construction and operation of a world class green field aluminium smelter complex which will be operational in 2010 with around 700,000 tonnes annual capacity. Upon completion of the project, the smelter will have a capacity of 1.4 million tonnes which will make it the largest single site Aluminium Smelter in the world.

Position reports to: Project Controls Manager
The Role:

Develop and maintain the overall detailed project schedules.

Provide variance analysis of critical plans and make any adjustments / recommendations in order not to delay the project schedule

Regularly Audit the Contractors schedule performance and processes
Involvement in the identification of project schedule risk assessment, analysis and mitigation proposals.
Coordination of reporting interfaces with contractors and other departments.
Maintain/develop project controls procedures (i.e. control structure, progress measurement etc.)
Responsible for regular weekly/monthly progress reports
Participate in progress review meetings and be able to communicate / present to the senior project team.

Requirements
12 – 15 years experience in a similar role with understanding of all phases the project life cycle
Hands on can do attitude / role up sleeves
Experience of Primavera P3 system
Previously performed a lead role in construction of Heavy Industries / Aluminium Smelter
