My client is an International Consultant who are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Oman.
The Engineer will provide Electrical building services design engineering expertise on multi disciplinary projects, together with planning and technical co-ordination expertise on a programme of new build projects in Oman and the Gulf Region where my client have been appointed as both designer and site engineer. Candidate will also be required to provide detailed drawings and analysis of technical/construction/build-ability.

Technical Competencies

Essential
- Degree qualified –BEng or BSc
- A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in the design of MEP projects
- Experience of electrical design software – Amtech & Dialux design packages essential. An understanding of IES Design suite beneficial
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety best practices in the Middle East
- Understanding of British, American and International design standards
- Good level of computer literacy in Windows, Excel, MS Project and other Microsoft products – an understanding of AutoCAD is beneficial
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles
- Ability to contribute to bids and design competitions
- Independently initiate concept, scheme and detailed designs
- Demonstrable experience in and commitment to low energy design
- Experience and proven ability to assist in the management of a team
- Contractual Awareness
- Experienced in the management of the design process (financial, programme, resources)

Desirable
- Member of CIBSE
- CEng qualification preferred
- Experience in the design of high rise services (G+40 preferable)
- Understanding of district cooling principals
- Minimum 5 years experience in Middle East

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a multi discipline team of 10 to 15 persons and manage, with discipline heads, design performance and quality
- Carry out Building Services (air-conditioning, Drainage, Domestic water, Fire Protection, LPG etc) design to ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, International and British Standards and Local municipality and Utility Authority regulations
- Co-ordinate with architects, electrical building services engineers, structural engineers and other disciplines
- Co-ordinate, instruct and supervise mechanical engineers and draughtsmen
- Allocate, set, & review financial budgets and programmes for Engineers
- Review outgoing mechanical project work, technical and commercial correspondence
- Carry out arithmetical checks and independent design review of other engineer’s design
- Identify and manage project change
- Manage sub-consultants as necessary
- Act as focal point for all matters relating to mechanical engineering design for the project
- Manage, maintain and develop Mechanical technical excellence.
- As directed by the Design Manager , manage fee proposals
- Provide project progress and financial updates to the Design Manager
- Support the Project Manager to enable him to manage all time and cost related aspects of the project
- Provide a technical mentoring and professional development focal point for the project’s mechanical engineers
- Provide technical and financial review of Tenders
- Give site backup on technical/design issues, where required.
- To manage and co-ordinate the efficient production of documentation for a number of projects simultaneously
- Complete engineering work within the agreed programme, or notify the Project Manager of any alterations
