Assistant Design Engineer – Construction

Location: LONDON

My client is looking for an Assistant Design manager to work on a project in London. You will be required to deliver the correct design by realising the design opportunities and mitigating the design risks to ensure bid winning solutions and projects that can be delivered effectively to meet the strategy of my client. The key tasks will include: Design Procurement, Assist the Principal Design Manager or Senior Design Manager in selecting and agreeing appropriate Designers for the bid or project. Assist the Principal Design Manager or Senior Design Manager in the preparation of Schedules of Design Services based on standard documentation. Ensure such are included in the respective Consultancy Agreements. Assist the Principal Design Manager or Senior Design Manager in the preparation of Schedules of Listed Design Personnel based on standard documentation. Assist in ensuring those listed personnel are competent. Liaise with the Commercial Team with the aim of ensuring that an appropriate Cost Plan is prepared and agreed in a language the Design Team should understand. Support the Principal Design Manager or Senior Design Management and the Commercial Manager in agreeing the Consultancy Agreement terms, conditions, fees and payment mechanisms.Contribute to the preparation of enquiries for subcontract packages from a design perspective. Coordinate technical reviews of subcontractor proposals with the Design Team and ensure all comments and agreements are delivered in a timely manner.

You will responsible for contributing to and implement the agreed design management strategy for the bid or project. Liaise closely with other members of the 'Cost Plan Team' in terms of decision making for each package of work, which will include the Construction Manager and Commercial Manager, the Design Consultant Lead for the package and any respective supply chain partners. Maintain professional working relationships with the Design Team, Construction Team and Employer Team and communicate well with them.
