Graduate Engineer
Department/Division: Glasgow/ Maritime Scotland
Role: Graduate Civil Engineer
Responsibilities:
In the office:
Contribute to development of engineering design solutions in steel, concrete, timber and other materials to relevant design codes, including:
• Production of engineering design calculations
• Production of engineering design details
• Collection and collation of design data
• Preparation of drawings, reports and presentations
Contribute to production of technical, commercial and contractual documents for procurement of engineering projects, including:
• specifications
• programmes
• bills of quantities
On site:
Carry out visual inspections and dimensional surveys (including use of tapes and levels) Inspect and monitor construction works to determine compliance with specified quality and programme issues.
Other Duties:
• Carry out any duties, which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education Level
BEng 1st – min 2.2 in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. Should be from an accredited university course (by ICE or IStructE.)
Min 3 A levels, or 4 Highers – Maths/Sciences/1 other.
No less than 7 GCSE’s or O grades which must include good passes in English Language and Maths.
Further qualifications in structural engineering, computing topic, management or communication skills. Work experience (e.g. sandwich course) for new graduates.
A level or Higher English
Professional/Technical Qualifications:
Some experience of AutoCad, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
Graduate member of Professional Institution
Experience:
Must have gained experience in structural engineering: steel and concrete design. Should be familiar with computer based analysis.
Maritime or Bridge Experience
OR
Building or Tower structures experience
Site based experience e.g. surveying, structural assessments or supervision.
Experience of client contact.
Personal Skills/Qualities:

Outdoor activities. Fit
Potential for leadership.
Has undertaken some travelling.

Special Requirements:
Must be mobile and willing to work in any location in the UK on short term posts.
Willing to train as a climbing Engineer
Previous climbing experience.
