Department Description

A vacancy exists in client’s Maritime Business Group, Swindon for a recently chartered structural engineer to support UK as well as international maritime projects that are undertaken from this office.

Key Objectives

The principal function of this position is to:

· act as a project engineer and undertake design work

· prepare project documentation

· provide technical support to the project design teams

The role may also involve supporting business development activities, as required.

Key Responsibilities

The priorities of this role include:

acting as designer, design checker, design package manager, as appropriate
undertaking or assisting with planning and design of ports, dockyards and marine terminals
preparing study reports, contract documents and assisting with management of tender process
liaison with client and other external parties, as required

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge. These points should align with the key areas of responsibility:

· experience in the field of maritime civil engineering to undertake feasibility studies, structural analysis and designs.

· good written and spoken communication skills

· pro-active, willing to take responsibility and a team player

Minimum qualifications:

· first degree in civil or structural engineering or equivalent

· professional engineer registration status with ICE or IStructE or equivalent professional institutions

· masters degree in engineering structures / maritime civil engineering or similar desirable
