The water & power business group (WPBG) has over 300 staff in the Middle East region and a business with an annual turnover in excess of £10 million. Its main target countries are the UAE, Qatar, Libya and Saudi Arabia.
This role is a key position in developing and growing our client's water & power business in the Middle East region and will involve leading the commercial and contractual activity of the business group.
The principal function of this position is to lead the water & power business group's commercial and contractual activities in the Middle East and develop a strong commercial culture within the BG
Essence of role – key accountabilities
Your priorities in this role will include:
•to work with the WPBG regional director, regional operations and resources manager and regional development manager to deliver the BG targets for the Middle East
•to lead and develop commercial strategies in the region
•to negotiate and investigate potential new contract relationships with new and existing clients, partners and supply chain members
•to manage production of financial modelling and analysis for major bids. . to produce commercial plans for bids won and liaise with project directors
•to achieve targets for the commercial performance of the WPBG business
•assist project director's, when required, on claims management
Technical / professional expertise
The ideal candidate should possess a relevant degree in quantity surveying or equivalent; qualification Member of RICS or similar professional institution/organisation and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
•a proven track record in management within a commercial environment in the construction and consulting industry
•extensive commercial experience within the construction industry preferably obtained with both a consultant and contractor
•experience of directing projects and client liaison at highest levels
•a demonstrable ability for team working and building relationships, internal and external
•contracts experience (getting best terms for the client)
•working experience of negotiating and operating contract relationships (JVs, partnering)
•excellent communication and inter-personal skills
•Middle East experience preferable
