Commercial Manager

Digby Morris’ client is part of one of the largest European Main Civils Engineering and building contracting groups. The company undertakes the construction activities of the Group and its subsidiaries outside Europe. These activities include marine, industrial, infrastructure and building projects. Their projects can be found in the regions of Africa, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The firm employs 80 expatriates and 4000 locally employed personnel. An additional 80 employees are based at the head office in the Netherlands.

At the moment, we have a vacancy in Qatar for a Commercial Manager

Responsibilities include:
- Advise of contractual risks in tender phases, assist in the compilation of tender Submissions
- Draft, negotiate and agree terms and conditions of various types of contracts both minor and complex
- Manage post contract activities effectively, seek to agree any outstanding issues as soon as possible, this to include providing support to Site teams in the identification, quantification and agreement of variations
Provide ongoing advice and guidance on commercial, contractual and legal issues ,
- Provide support to the negotiation and agreement of subcontracts through to complex and strategic subcontract arrangements with a view to minimising risk .
- Monitor management of risks on projects.
- Lead, develop and motivate reporting staff, ensuring they are fully aware of and capable of meeting their responsibilities
- Contribute to developing and maintaining commercial procedures and policies and implement them
- Assist Area Manager on commercial matters.

Requirements

- Professionally qualified QS/Commercial Manager
- Strong commercial management background on building and/or civil engineering projects,
- Commercially astute with excellent negotiating skills.
