Principal port engineer

Department Description

The maritime business group has ambitious expansion plans and is seeking a specialist professional with experience in maritime terminals planning, port engineering and design to work on UK and international projects for client’s office in Swindon.


Key Objectives

The principal function of this position is to undertake feasibility studies, ports and terminals master planning and design and management of related projects and sub-tasks


Key Responsibilities:

The priorities of this role include:

providing technical input to all port planning projects
undertaking project assignments for site assessment, data collection, stakeholder interviews, due diligence work and similar
managing projects, client relationships and project teams
assisting with technical training and development of junior staff on areas of port planning and port engineering


Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a relevant degree or equivalent and have membership of a professional institution and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge.

experience in preparation of feasibility studies and master plans with particular focus on operation of container terminal and/or LNG/LPG terminals and/or general and bulk cargo terminals is essential together with knowledge of design and planning of marine structure, dredging and reclamation works and navigation channels
proven record in financial and economic planning of port developments is desirable.
excellent communication skills
a willingness to travel on short term international assignment at short notice is essential
