Our Client a major International Contractor seeks project procurement managers for multi billion dirham mixed use development projects in Abu Dhabi.
You will have recent experience of managing the procurement function of both goods and services on large construction projects with a value of £20 million plus. Previous International experience not necessary.
Your responsibilities will include:
- developments in the local, and national construction markets.
- working relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors
- selection and appraisal of sub-contractors and suppliers
- drafting suitable terms and conditions and sub-contract documentation
- subcontractor and supplier negotiations
- Ensuring all materials and services are procured at competitive prices to budget, in accordance with the project construction programme and in compliance with the project specifications.
Key skills will include:
Accomplished team player with good negotiation, commercial and organisational skills.
Ability to plan workload in a structured manner and prioritise actions / project requirements.
To be able to communicate both orally and in writing in English
Knowledge of construction contracts, subcontracts, service agreements their interpretation and application
Computer literate
Ability to identify, consider and propose alternative materials/solutions and assess cost effectiveness.
Ability to communicate with the supply market at all levels.
Requirements:
- Preferably degree educated in civil engineering / commercial management.
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Spoken Arabic would be an advantage but is not essential.
- 8 to 12 years post graduate experience. Experience in a similar position in the UAE / Gulf would be an advantage.
