My client has always been at the forefront of the adoption of new construction technology to improve efficiency, provide more rapid execution while ensuring high quality performance.
Jobs at this level are engaged in the preparation & compilation of the necessary documents, information & technical inputs required for the completion of the more complex or higher value tender documentation. Jobs at this level normally work under supervision.
Key accountabilities
• Study tender documentation in order to gain a clear overall understanding and to fully appreciate the requirements for their specific technical area and to appreciate the relevant construction methods.
• Review tender bill of quantities & discuss with client & partner where appropriate in order to ensure that all required elements are present.
• Estimate resources required such as direct labour, construction equipment etc for each activity to enable them to be accurately costed.
• Prepare estimates for direct costs including labour wages, equipment hire and all other costs etc using judgement to ensure that the relevant & appropriate figures are applied.
• Review sub-contract inquiries & quotations converting them to the same level to enable effective comparative consideration.
• Prepare estimate related technical proposal deliverables (e.g. Equipment lists, manpower histograms etc) for insertion in the proposal.
• Guide and develop subordinate estimators to ensure the quality of input provided and to assist in their personal development.
• Prepare indirect cost estimate and review the technical proposal under the supervision of department manager or senior proposal leader.
• Assist the manager or senior proposal leader in interfacing & communicating with the client in order to ensure effective negotiation.
• Assist the manager or senior proposal leader in ensuring effective post award hand over.
Qualifications experience skills & knowledge
• b.sc. - engineering.
• minimum 6 years diversified experience in the construction field. (preferably including a minimum of 2 years on site)
• minimum of 2 years as an estimation engineer.
• technical knowledge and understanding of execution methodology.
